It is officially a wrap for Subject 443: Materials for Civil Engineering!

Teaching this group of students remotely at the Technopoint Engineering Training Center in Yangon, Myanmar, has been an absolute privilege. Even through a screen, the energy, curiosity, and dedication of this class have been inspiring.

Finishing this batch brought back a flood of memories for me.

A Trip Down Memory Lane: June 2016

It has been almost 10 years since I first stepped into the role of a CGI trainer. My very first time teaching was the June 2016 series. I was just 19 years old, fresh off graduating with my B.Tech and completing my Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Construction.

Back then, I was handed the reins to teach the Level 3 Foundation class for the Civil Engineering Diploma. I was young, nervous, but fueled by an absolute passion for engineering and sharing knowledge. Fast forward a decade, and that same passion is still what drives me every single time I log into a Zoom session or step into a classroom.

Bridging the Distance (Now)

Teaching as a freelance remote trainer comes with its own unique set of dynamics. We might be miles apart, but digging into the complexities of civil engineering materials—understanding the very building blocks of our physical world—bridges that gap. To the Technopoint students: your adaptability and engagement made this virtual classroom feel incredibly connected.

To My Students: What’s Next?

Now, the real challenge begins: the City & Guilds exams!

Trust in your preparation. You know the material, you understand the concepts, and you are ready. And just a quick reminder: do your absolute best! As I mentioned in class, I have some special surprise prizes waiting for anyone who scores a Distinction in my subject! 😉

To everyone who has been part of my 10-year City & Guilds Engineering Diploma teaching journey, whether you are a past student, a current one, or a fellow engineer reading this, thank you for making it such a memorable ride.

Keep building, keep learning!
